Chronic kidney failure has been on the rise in recent years. Patients continue their lives depending on dialysis in the summer or they can regain a healthy life as an organ transplant. However, paying attention to kidney health from childhood and taking the necessary precautions can protect the person from the danger of failure in the future.
It is most common in women and after the age of 40.
The kidney is an important organ that produces the hormone erythropoietin, which cleans toxic substances in the body, plays an important role in the formation of bones, ensures the activation of vitamin D and ensures the production of red blood cells. A decrease in kidney functions below a certain limit indicates chronic kidney failure. Kidney failure means that the filtration value falls below 60 ml/min. If the filter value falls below 20, end-stage renal failure develops. The important thing is to intervene before kidney failure develops. The remaining cells in the kidneys do not renew themselves, on the contrary, they progress and get worse. If there is a kidney failure process exceeding 3 months, this means chronic kidney failure. Chronic renal failure; Since it causes anemia, osteoporosis and heart diseases, it can be life-threatening if left untreated. Although it is known that kidney failure can occur at any age and gender, it is more common especially in older ages and women. Studies show that it occurs more often after the age of 40.

Don´t neglect your regular checkups
Kidney failure may not show any symptoms in the early stages. For this, the most effective way to detect the disease is to perform blood and urine tests at regular intervals. With early diagnosis, it is possible to slow down and treat kidney failure. If one or more of these risk factors, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, overweight and a history of kidney failure in the mother, father or close relatives, are present, kidney functions should be checked every 6-12 months. Unfortunately, there is no regular check-up habit in our country. This prevents diseases from being detected at an early stage. Routine controls are of great importance in the prevention of kidney failure. In some countries, the creatinine level is monitored for kidney health. If this level exceeds 1.2, nephrology specialists should be consulted. This is an important way for early diagnosis.

Pay attention to these to protect kidney health!
